We at World Waste Systems recognize the need for an easy to use growing system that enables urban/suburban farmers to grow just about anything anywhere. Our Vertical High Density Growing System (VGS) works indoor or outdoors and grows a multitude of herbs, fruit, vegetables and flowers. Using a fraction of the water required for traditional farming our system grows up to 40 times more food in the same space.

The Standard System

The standard garden is 8 feet in diameter and 7 feet tall (2.1m). This platform is intended for growing herbs, leafy greens, strawberries, cherry tomato, spinach, and other similar produce.

Extended System

For the small commercial grower we produce a 12 foot tall (3.7m) garden to grow vine crops and root crops. The pots and spacing would be increased resulting in only 12 pots per pole. This platform is intended for growing beefsteak tomato, peppers, beans, cucumbers, beets, potatoes, carrots, onions and other similar produce.

What should be grown vs. what can be grown?

The system is intended to grow crops profitably. Clearly profit varies from location to location and season to season. While a wide range of produce can be grown, we typically advise targeting the highest cash crops and concentrate on a select few instead of trying to grow small amounts of everything. Seasonality does not effect production since the system can be used 12 months a year. Our feeling is – grow what makes money in quantities that suit your market.

The Vertical Growing System is a flexible platform which allows high density growing anywhere. The system can use any growing media, can be adjusted to several pot sizes and can be modified to achieve specific growth results.

The systems central core is a “Garden”. A garden is comprised of 8 poles that rotate around a central light source to ensure all plants get the same amount of light. The poles hold pots. Depending on the crop being produced the pot configuration can be adjusted to accommodate specific growing needs – in terms of offsets and spacing.  The system can be increased or decreased in diameter to accommodate vine crops. The system can have deeper pots to accommodate root crops. Lights can be used for growing indoors or the gardens can be used outside or in a greenhouse with no lights at all. The gardens can be configured in various ways to achieve the highest production density possible.
