Refuse Derived Fuel

RDF Plants (Refuse Derived Fuel)
These plants process the lower grades of material which cannot easily be recovered for recycling but have a high calorific value for burning. The material must be first screened to remove metals/stones. It is normally shredded down to 45 to 80mm. Before being pelletised for volume reduction and saving in transport costs.
The primary action of the ballistic separates to separate the flat (paper and card) from the rolling (plastic bottles and wood typically) making it easier to make a material mix afterwards to achieve the calorific value required by the burning plant. The pellets are utilized by the commercial sector power generation/ fuel for cement kilns/ community heating.
